For makeup...hmm. Well, I'm not allowed to use makeup. I only wear heavy black eyeliner, black eyeshadow, and mascara for photos, because using makeup when your younger gives you worse skin when your older so I barely use my makeup. I usually go to school with no makeup, just curl my eyelashes with an eyelash curler and put some lipgloss on, and I'm good to go!

Best Department Store Makeup For Blemish Coverage?
My friend's wedding is Saturday and I want to look my best! I'm going to treat myself to a ';makeover'; at a department store that day and need to know who has the best NATURAL-looking coverage for spotty skin. Unfortunately, I just had a hormonal blemish breakout. The blemishes have healed, but left discolored marks that need a great natural appearing cover.

ok im about 5.4 size 8 or 9 i have auburn hair a little bit passed my shoulders i'd like a dress that is no longer then my knees i was thinking about a halter-dress Colour's purple red or black i can't choose i saw a few in the sears wish book catalog but cant choose also what kind of bra should i use lol i cannot wear strapless they always fall down on me and if i wear a normal one the straps will show let me know i was thinking about those bras that have the clear straps but i heard they hurt do they?

Also you should just go to the mall and look around. Le Chateau had lots of cute, knee length dresses last time I was in there and lots of stores will have dresses on sale because they are clearing out their holiday merchandise.
I don't like the clear strap bras because they're shiny and you can still see them, especially in pictures with the flash. If you get a strapless dress just get a strapless bra that's tight and it won't fall down, or look for one with a built in bra. Or if it's a halter get a convertible bra where you can put the straps in different position.
Get waterproof eyeliner and mascara. I cried at my grade 8 grad but I had waterproof makeup on so I was okay. And if you want to be extra careful just put in on your top lid.
edit: It's hard to say an eyeshadow colour without knowing your colouring but if you wear a purple dress you can go with purple eyeshadow. MAC Cosmetics is the same price no matter if you go to Macys, Nordstroms, or the actual MAC Store. Now it can be a bit more TAX WISE depending on where you live.

If your looking for cheaper or discounted MAC products, you should go to an Outlet Mall where things are cheaper than a regular mall. Over here there is a Saks Outlet Store and they sell all cosmetics including MAC at cheaper prices, but usually they are shades that are being discontinued or limited in number. You can find brushes,cosmetic bags, etc. YOu might find some goodies as well.

Walmart, Target and Wal-greens sell large, nice looking train cases. Or, if your collection is larger than that you can buy little desk organizers, decorative glass containers or pencil trays to keep everything organized and seperated.

ahaha. well, for eyeliners, mascaras, and brushes i put in pencil holders (you can get them at the container store). i organize them by using one for all my brushes and one for my eyeliner pencils, liquid eyeliners and mascara.
for my eyeshadows and powders i just put in a little woven basket. its just piled over eachother. i used to try to organize them but it didnt work at all.
everything else like foundaiton you can usually put in a cabinet or such.
I have a little purse, from victoria secret. Nothing fancy, it's just made of canvas and is meant for this. And I use that. I have a smaller bag in there with all my makeup that might get messy, well all my makeup really. lol And then on the outer part (where there isn't a bag and its just the normal purse) I put all my lotions/ medicines. Since I have so many! lol : D

They are probably required to wear the makeup their store sells, and in order to get an idea of how everything looks, they need to wear a little of everything for work, even if on a normal day they may only wear blush, liner, and mascara, etc. As for the attitudes, some salespeople find that customers can ask what they consider ';dumb'; questions, and at a certain time of day, no longer want to reply. However, if it seems like everyone acts that way, unless you really love the selection and quality, I would suggest shopping elsewhere. I agree that they wear way to much makeup. MAC is my favourite brand %26amp; it's the only makeup i wear. I went to my local MAC counter last week to look at a different foundation %26amp; the woman who would have been in her early 40's %26amp; plastered in makeup offered to put some on me.
I can't believe how much of it she caked on. It was terrible. Someone needs to show them how to apply makeup correctly. They must all think that they are about to be on television! I can't think of any other reason why they would put so much on!!!

I agree that they wear way to much makeup. MAC is my favourite brand %26amp; it's the only makeup i wear. I went to my local MAC counter last week to look at a different foundation %26amp; the woman who would have been in her early 40's %26amp; plastered in makeup offered to put some on me.
I can't believe how much of it she caked on. It was terrible. Someone needs to show them how to apply makeup correctly. They must all think that they are about to be on television! I can't think of any other reason why they would put so much on!!!
Yeah! Maybe they are stuck up cause they think a person doesn't have money. Ha! Ha! With all the assaults, car jacks in parking lots I usually dressed down when I go to stores. You're so right not one of them look at me nor want to offer me a perfume trial. The make up is that they get free make up everytime a new product comes out.

Yes!! If you buy Loe- Cornell's brushes = any painter will tell you that they are the best brushes for paint, just like anyone crazy about makeup would tell you that MAC brushes are the best.
They are VERY soft brushes and many come in the same size as actual makeup brushes too! I don't have any yet b/c I'm saving up money to buy some for xmas:)

i think sometimes paint brushes work better, they're often softer than expensive make-up brushes, and they are a whole lot cheaper. if you buy good quality paint brushes then they are fine to use on your face and there is no reason you shouldn't use them for make-up purposes. i'd recommend Leow Cornell brushes, they've worked great for me, and i love how inexpensive they are compared with say the MAC brushes, which can be like $40 sometimes. you can find Leow Cornell brushes at Michael's, and you should be able to find them at most other craft stores.

It really does not matter. I will tell you something, I worked for a cosmetics company for a while and I know that bigger brands have a sister brand that is sold for less but made in the same place with the same ingredients. Lancome=Loreal Ponds= Elizabeth Arden Ultima 2 = Revlon and so on. i would pretty much have to say ';no.'; Here's why....i think if you know what colors look good on you, and you know how to apply makeup...well, that's where how makeup ends up looking on you matters, not how much it costs. No one is going to go ';Oh wow-your lashes look great! Where'd you get that mascara?'; Trust me-an eyelash curler and any old mascara will do. THe only time I'd say expensive makeup makes a difference is in eyeshadows when you're looking for those really funky colors for a party or something-like MAC, those colors show up really bright and funky on your face, while the cheaper ';funky'; eyeshadows come up pretty weak.

Department store brands are great because they give you a consultation to find out the right shade and the right skin type for you so that your make up doesn't look: cakey, flakey, shiny, etc. Also, they show you how to apply it so you get that natural, dewey, or matte finish. Unfortunately with drugstore brands you don't get any of that help. Many women do not apply their make up correctly or do not use the correct shades. Resulting in fake and uneven coloring. Personally I'm a big fan of Benefit, Bobbi Brown, Clinique, MAC, and Chanel. To me, Bobbi Brown and Benefit are the best at finding your best colors and showing you the correct application technique. MAC and Chanel just have rockin color selections. The department store brands are a little more expensive, not by much, but still worth every penny. I've since bought a few e/s brushes and LOVE them :) HTH

4. You don't waste it. When I bought drug store Makeup ...I wouldn't use half the stuff after I bought it so I ended up with a drawer full of crap. Now that I only buy the good stuff , I have about a third of the Makeup. WHich also makes it easier to get dressed in the morning.

It really does not matter. I will tell you something, I worked for a cosmetics company for a while and I know that bigger brands have a sister brand that is sold for less but made in the same place with the same ingredients. Lancome=Loreal Ponds= Elizabeth Arden Ultima 2 = Revlon and so on. haha yes this happens wherever you go. Thats kinda their job. They make their money off commision. So if they see you looking at something that might be on sale, or they can try and sell it to you they will jump on that opportunity. It is annoying though, but thats why we can go the cheaper way with no assistant at lets say drug stores, or wholesale makeup places that sell to the public.Sometimes I'll go to the department stores to look at makeup. Yes, that is annoying. I'm the same way when it comes to that, it's cool if they tell you about what's new and says ';Well, if you need any help just let me know!'; and kinda moves on to the next girl or whatever but when they follow you and see you glance at something for a split second and then they say stuff like ';Oh, we just got that in..it's selling out so fast, would you like to try it?'; Errr and what is even worse is the perfume people that just grab your hand and spray it on, I've had that happen before. She must of been not making any money that day, lol.

Yes I would go out with no makeup on. I've done it a lot, I don't wear makeup daily. When I wear makeup, I am more likey to look in a mirror to see if everything is in place, and to touch up throughout the day. Without makeup I am less likey to look in a mirror and go on my day without having to think about my makeup messing up, and plus I tend to touch my face alot, especially in school, its a werid habit I can't break.
I guess I depends on like if your having a date at your house and you don't have any food and your all dressed I would run to the grocery store with my make up on get it and cook and freshening up.
But if its like just to grocery shop I would not. I would wear some sweats with some boots or something and my hair in a bun

I have heavy blue-green veins under my eyes and on my lids. They're genetic and really annoying. I use multiple coats of concealer to hide them. I also have a mild rosacea that used to be a lot worse when I was younger, and I was self-conscious about it then, so I'm obsessive about covering it now. I use a tinted moisturizer because other than that, my skin is really good-- breakouts are oddities for me.
I love makeup though. I'm guilty of overusing at times, not because I don't know when to stop, but because I love applying it. I just think its so fun.
So even when I'm in a complete hurry, I manage to do concealer, tinted moisturizer, a sweep of brown shadow on my creases (already on the wand), brown liner on my top lid, about 20 coats of mascara, (I try to make it look like I have false lashes in... and I usually succeed.) lip balm, and a sweep of bronzer (already on the brush).
When I DO have time? Brown liner on my bottom lid and a cat eye. White gold shadow to my browbone. Lip gloss. And whatever else I can find.
Its sad that society nowadays (as a whole) feels like they have to perfect themselves to ';keep up with the Joneses';-- who aren't Jonses at all, in fact. The people we're trying to keep up with are celebrities, which is impossible, since the images we see of them are retouched and Photoshopped until it doesn't even look like them anymore.
Until the unrealistic images in the media stop, we won't, and our daughters won't, or even our daughter's daughters. This is a subject I'm truly passionate about and hope to work on in the future. Girls are getting low self-esteem at a scarily young age and grow into self-conscious women. We are all self-conscious, whether we want to admit it or not. And its sad that even the most confident of us are checking our reflections in mirrors hourly.

What do you store your makeup in?
I use 3 different bags to keep my makeup in.
One is for my everyday makeup, the other for makeup I rarely use, and the third is makeup that is practically brand new that I don't use but I don't want to just throw it away.
I want to store all my makeup in the same bag or box. I don't like to keep it seperate cause then I forget about the other stuff I have and end up never using it. I havent seen anything at the stores big enough and still cute that is worth buying.

i use a lot of those makeup bags you can get at macys for buying over a certain amount of makeup or money. i mean why spend soo much on a makeup bag, besides its good to change the bags and boxes once every so often to keep the germs out and from entering your makeup. the tyra show once aired a woman who hasn`t changed her makeup box since she was 13 and she is like 20 something, there were microscopic worms and other bacteria growing from the box and the make up also the brushes. that is why i don`t spend that much money on the make up bags or boxes because you need to change them in order to be risk-free of the bacteria that can cause problems to your face! so my advice is that you should just see what macys is promoting right now and see if you need something from like clinique, mac, christian dior, or whatever and spend that amount written on the paper and get the make up bag. that is what i do and i think that it is much better to buy the make up you need, get the make up bag from spending that money, and save a lot. no need to get the juicy couture make up boxes, the max you should use one is like one year.What do you store your makeup in?

Hi i do exactly the same as you, but when ever i do get a big enough vanity case i put all my make up toghether but then i cant stand having them all toghther messed up, Them if i do get a vanity case with compartment in its too small, They dont make any bigger, at the moment, i have them all serpeated in to different make up bags. But you can keep the bags in a big tub like a bread box and design it to makeit look good.
Not sure if you have Ikea near you, but they have this wooden organiser with 6 drawers that are quite deep, or you can try getting one of Bobbi Brown's makeup cases.

If you can purchase online you can check out coastalscents.com, they have palettes with numerous bright colors that are inexpensive. But, what I would recommend is checking out Ebay, as you can get the same items for cheaper. If you do the Ebay route, just make sure to find a reputable seller- that's the only downside.
Also, on youtube if you search around, they give good reviews on drugstore makeup... that way you know if you're getting something good. Just search cheap drugstore makeup or something.

Okay for stuff like foundation, powder, concealer, and mascara I think it's best to go with department store brands or Sephora brands. The drugstore brands just don't compare, and I've tried a lot.
Now for eye shadows and eye liners you can definitely experiment more, and you'll probably like a mixture of both drug store and high end brands. I think Almay and Revlon are the best drug store brands :).
Also the awesome thing about going to Sephora is that you can try all the make up in store and if you take it home and decide you don't like it or it isn't the right color, even though it's used you can still return it or exchange it! Well I use to buy that really expensive make up from the department stores, but it was too expensive so I stopped. I went to Wal-mart and experimented around with their make up. I finally found something that worked for me. I now buy (all the time) Loreal Bare Naturale Powder which is mineral powder, and I use the Revlon Custom Creations. I like this because there are 5 levels and you can find your own level depending on your skin tone. I wish I had found this years ago I would have saved so much money trying to find my perfect shade. The tube if filled with light foundation on on side and dark on the other you adjust the color until you find your perfect match. I being the darkest and 5 being the lightest. The two different brands work fine together and I don't look like I have a face full of makeup on. And the good thing is I can use the 5 as a concealer.
I like drug store make up. It's a lot cheaper and i feel as if some is the same quality as department store make up. Almay makes a great powder and i love just about all of Rimmel's mascaras. Covergirl eyeliner is the best and it doesn't smudge, unlike a lot of department store eyeliners I have used in the past.
I don't use either - but most guys don't.
My wife, on the other hand, buys Christian Dior exclusively. She looks pretty good to me so I figure it's doing something good.
There are often freebies at the larger stores so you can try out some samples and see what works for you. Different skin types react differently to different makeups. It's chemistry! Try and few before settling on any specific source or brand.
And remember - never wear too much. It's there to enhance, not hide.

i use bare minerals but im also looking for something cheaper.. with minerals since i know thats good.
I use Revlon mascara, idk what it's called, but it's like, shock volume or something. It's the one that has like the gel that makes it like perfect, and then the mascara. I don't use anything other than mascara and the occasional lipgloss (but definatly burt's bees chapstick!) I can't use any other mascara. It's just too perfect. But to maintain the curl it gives u, i use an eyelash curler.
Maybelline dream matte moussebare and you got the Minerals-
it gives great coverage without looking like you have a lot on,it just gives a natural glow.It also helps the skin from breaking apart.
foundation: i would go with clinique, drug store is l'oreal true match. their foundation have good match with skin tone, and they work.
concealer: i dont use it very much, but i would go with l'oreal true match concealer, it has the right consistency.
blush: covergirl cheeker, they are inexpensive, but has great colour at the same time.
or bobbie brown blush, they always look great on everyone. or clinique, love the color and the silky texture.
I think the Saphora's makeup works real good you should try it, and what's also good about it is that at the store you can get an associate to help you choose the best one for your skin color and type and you can even get to experiment with the products if you like . good luck.
