What are makeup consulations like at stores like ulta or sephora?

I'm thinking about getting a makeup consulation but I'm wondering if they will pressure me to buy the makeup they show. Also do they actually give you free samples?What are makeup consulations like at stores like ulta or sephora?
Make overs at Sephora do not cost anything. I had one done a couple of years ago, I wanted to try a new look for my eyes and wasn't sure how to apply the colors in the right places. I did not feel any pressure to purchase any of the products that were used, some were very similar to colors I already had. As far as free samples, yes. If there's a product you're interested in they'll usually give you a little to take home.


The only down side to the make over was that she didn't like the foundation that I wore and wasn't willing to use it, so she used another brand.


I would suggest calling to make sure that there are no beauty events going on at the time you're thinking of going in, then there might be a fee.

sephora's whole store is free samples! you can try anything there and then buy it if you like!


i don't think they would pressure you. and their makeup consulations are really good!

Depends on if you make an appt, then sometimes you are expected to but part of taht is covered in your fee, that's usually at dept stores anyway. Otherwise no there's supposed to be no pressure- besides it's fun!
Yeah, most of them are pretty pushy. The other night I was at the clinique counter buying some lip gloss and the woman there was trying to get me to buy EVERYTHING. The thing to do is let them put it on and then just say ';okay, I'll come back'; and walk away. And yes, most give free samples.
